Answer -
The model should be stamped on the engine fan shroud, the top metal engine sheet metal containing the starter.

CODE 01061851 eric hope i have got it right this time

Answer
These engines are very reliable.

Are you using SAE-30 oil and is the correct amount in the mower?

You particular engine will not leak gas into the oil like other models.  It's possible the rings and valve guides are wore a little but it's not worth rebuilding the engine.

Have you ever performed any type of valve work?
If not, I would recommend putting the engine back together, changing the oil and using it.  If the mower seems to use oil then it may be time for another mower.

Let me know if this helps.
