Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): replacing pull cord on weed eater lawnmower, weed eater, rivets

the pull cord on our weed eater broke.  when we opened the cover to the recoil housing, we found it is attached with rivets.  how do we open this to replace the string?

Hi Kristen,

I have never run across that!  I would suggest trying to remove more of the housing to get at the reel.  So you won't need to remove the rivets.  Maybe you can thread the new rope without removing the entire recoil.
