Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman eager-1 1993(?), craftsman eager 1, craftsman eager 1 lawnmower

I need to know how to change the oil on a craftsman eager-1 lawnmower (pre-1997) and how much oil is needed. Also I can't seem to locate a new air filter, maybe you can point me in the right direction.

Hi Martha,

Disconnect the spark plug wire and tuck it where it won't touch the spark plug.  Raise the mower off the ground, placing the wheels on four milk crates or boxes.  Remove the drain plug located under the deck.  Drain the old oil into a pan or a cut out plastic gallon jug.  Replace the drain plug and tighten it well.  Add 30 weight oil until it is at the correct dipstick level.  You should be able to get a filter at a lawn and garden equipment center or a local repair shop.  Bring the old filter with you and the engine model and serial number, located on the recoil housing.
