Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): rider with no spark, good connections, local shop

i have a toro rider that is getting no spark at the plug. i bought a new plug and battery, cleaned the magneto magnets and fly wheel magnets, check the gound connection from the magneto, still no spark. what should i do next?
this is ab 8 hp toro rider with a 42" cut.

Hi Steve,

Usually, if you have good connections at the coil, it is gapped at .012" and still no spark, then the coil is bad.  I don't know a way to test it.  Maybe your local shop where you would buy a replacement could test it.
