Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): engine misses, techumseh, fuel filter

Sir: my 3yr. old techumseh 8hp mower engine starts/runs great but misses intermittently at an idle thru all rpms in neurtal...I,ve installed a new plug and new fuel filter and tried carb idle adj. and float adj. with no improvement...I don't notice this engine miss when I'm mowing the lawn...what's up, thanks

Hi Dean,

If there is no high speed mixture jet, only a low speed, then you can't make any adjustments that you haven't tried.
There could be a some debris in the carb but if it mostly runs well I don't know if you want to start disassembling the carb.  If you do, one speck of dirt, in a small hole could be causing it and I would also add a rebuild kit for good measure.
If still no change, try a higher octane or different brand of fuel.
