A valve job wouldn't hurt, but I can't recall doing very many valve jobs on those engines.

I believe your engine is actually a 14 HP engine block with the governor speed set up a couple of hundred RMP.

Is the pop continous or just seem to be random?
Are both plug the same color?

Let me know. pop is random and getting better. plugs are black. thanks willefixit

Is the pop getting better?

Does the carburetor have a fixed high speed jet?  Most do.

Let me know.
Eric  think it got it fixed . fixed jet carb also seems to run ok now with air cleaner on idle mix is only adj. thanks for the in put !! I'm think I'm going to lap the valves got some  compound and a vavle suction cup spinner /valve laping tool. thank for the input . john anas willefixit

Answer
Lapping works well.  The manual tells you to cut the seats, but then you have to lap also.

Several of the shops I have worked at didn't have seat cutters...we just used corse and fine lapping compound.

Do you need the valve/tappet clearance?
