Steering Column Repair: Steering Wheel wobble, steering wheel, protrusions

Question
2005 Camry. ~50K miles.
At low speeds literally from 0-20 MPH the steering wheel wobbles the most. It deminishes as you accelerate. I would say it that it occurs the most when at a stable speed where you can apply the least amount of gas pedal presure and still hold the speed, then it goes away as you give it more gas.

Answer
Hi Ron:

Sorry for the delay in answering you...I was out of town.
Regarding your wobble.  It sounds like a broken belt in a tire, not a steering problem.  If you want to, rotate the tires, front to back and see if that changes the wobble from feeling it in your steering wheel to feeling it in the seat. Do it one side at a time to determine which front tire is bad.
Alternately, (very carefully to avoid any belts sticking through the tire), run your hand around the circumference of the tire to feel for any protrusions or 'bubbles' in the tire.  Most often, when the tire is identified as bad you can visible see and feel the broken belt.

I hope this helps
Good luck
Doug
