Steering Column Repair: Turn signal lever repair, metal shaft, chevrolet truck

Question
Hi, The metal shaft on the turn signal lever broke off inside the column of my chevy S-10 and can not be reached to be pulled out by hand as you instructed another person to do, is there any way to take that part out without removing the steering column? We cant figure out how to remove the top part of the column that houses the lever mechanism. Please help! Thank you.

Answer
Hi Monica:
If I am understanding your correctly, the turn signal lever has snapped off and a piece of it is still stuck inside the wiper switch (which is what you see looking in the square hole).
If this is true, then the upper portion of the column needs to come apart so you can get a right angle pick behind the tip and push it out from the inside.
You don't say if it's tilt or non-tilt as the dis-assembly is different, but if it's a tilt, try this.
We have recently uploaded some videos on our website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the parts you are talking about. They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. Although the video is for a Chevrolet truck, the column is very similar to yours.
