Steering Column Repair: ignition will not turn off, ih scout ii, lock cylinder

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1974 IH Scout II. The ignition is locked in the on position. Is there any way that I can repair this on my own without having to drag it and all the leftover parts to my mechanic after I try it.
         Thanks,
         Kip

ANSWER: Hi Kip:
I'm not sure which design IH used in 74, but if you can send a picture (or 2) of the column to our company website, we may be able to identify it and help you
The email address is info@stolenandrecovered.com, or the phone # to send a phone pic is 585-461-3000

Hopefully we will see what you have and tell you how to repair it easily.

QUESTION: Doug,
I sent you some pictures of the steering column of my Scout a few weeks back. I might have sent the follow up to the wrong category in the forum or you might still be investigating a solution to the problem. If you did not receive any correspondence from me let me know and I will try again.
         Thanks,

Answer
Hello Kip:

We receive pictures all the time, so I'm not sure which ones are yours...but if they were sent form an 806 area code on 8-11-10, and the column is tan in color, then yes, we received them.
If that's the case, the column is a saginaw design, identical to the GM column we have instructions for on our website.
You should be able to replace the lock cylinder without any problem using this information:

Good luck
