Steering Column Repair: 1975 & 1988 Chevy K-5 Blazer Steering Colums, steering colums, inner components

Question
I own both a '75 and an '88 K-5 blazer.  I'm having some problems with the steering column in the '75 and rather than repairing it I'm wondering if I can just swap with the steering column from the '88.  They both have tilt steering.
Thank you,
Rich

Answer
Hi Rich:
The column for each vehicle looks similar but will not transfer easily.  The wipers are different as is the mounting plates.
Other than that, the inner components are pretty much the same.
The 75 column works through about 79 and the 88 column covers 86-89 only.

Alternatively, we have recently uploaded some videos on our company website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the tilt column you are talking about. They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. Although the videos are for a Chevrolet truck, the column is very similar to yours.

I hope these videos help you.  If not, please contact me again for more information.
Lastly, if you need parts to repair this column simply email us on our "Contact Us / Order Parts" page and we will get back in touch with you personally.  We stock just about everything you would need to repair your car properly.

Good luck

Doug
