Steering Column Repair: 1984 GMC truck tilt column wiring, tilt column, fuse block

Question
I'm getting no power from the column at all. No hazzard, ign. or dummy lights. Key buzzer comes on for a second then nothing. Checked all fuses and they are good. Any info would be great. Wiring diagram, anything. thank you.

Answer
Hi Shane:
The power for the ignition switch comes from the starter, not the fuse block.  Attached to the large terminal of the starter are multiple fusible links as well as the large battery cable.  Most often, one or more of these burns out, leaving the interior without power.  Check them with a test light about 8-10 inches away from the terminal.  All of the wires attached to that one large post should be live all the time.  I think you'll find one is not.

good luck
Doug
