Questionon my 93 gmc 1500 I've noticed that theres some play room. I have to turn the steering wheel 1/8 a turn before the wheels start to turn.ands its the same right or left.

This one is really hard to tell over the internet. It could be in the column, it could be in the steering gearbox under the hood, or it could be in the linkage under the truck.
If it is in the column the only thing I have seen that goes bad and causes that is the platick knuckle for the tilt assembly. I have enclosed a picture of that part, but you can;t see it unless you disassemble the column upper end.
