Steering Column Repair: Turn Signal Replacement, chevrolet pickup truck, turn signal switch

Question
Hello,
I have an 86 S10 Truck that I need to replace the Turn Signal lever on. It is a tilt steering column. I am having trouble getting all the parts out of the inside of the wheel properly. Do you know how many screws I should be taking out? and beyond that how to get the wire ran down the column without taking the shroud off? As I can seem to figure out how to get that off either. Is there any post/diagram that would show me this? Thanks

Answer
Hi Shawn:
I hope you haven't gone too far.  To replace the turn signal lever, you simply rotate it (like you are turning on the wipers) and pull out.
If you are replacing the wiper switch, turn signal switch or any other internal part, we have recently uploaded some videos on our website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the parts you are talking about. They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. Although the video is for a Chevrolet pickup truck, the column is identical to yours.

I hope these videos help you.  If not, please contact me again for more information.
Lastly, if you need parts to repair this column simply email us on our "Contact Us / Order Parts" page and we will get back in touch with you personally

Good luck

Doug
