Steering Column Repair: replacement of ignition actuator rods, door locks, stering

Question
I have a 93 f-150 w/ tilt stering in witch the upper and lower acutator don't seem to make proper contact. How do I get them out of the column for repair?

Answer
It's been a long time since I replaced the sector and actuator rods on one of these. They are a bear to do and are not easy like a GM. If you never did one, I would not recommend you trying.
It might cost you more than it is worth. You might be better off going to a junkyard and getting a used column with a key. The outer shrouds can be swapped as well as the steering wheel and air bag.
You will be left with two options if you do this. Either have one key for the door locks and one for the ignition or if you want to do it right, remove the ignition and have a locksmith code the lock to your door key.
The labor for changing the sector and actuator could cost you $300.00 plus the parts.
Good luck!
