Subaru Repair: front passenger side tire, wheel studs, legacy wagon

Question
I've been told that someone may have tried to steal my front
passenger side wheel after waking up to find it had only one
lug nut and 4 broken bolts.  Whats the common course of
action for repairing this? Is it going to be expensive
and/or will I be without a vehicle for long? Is it something
a relative with car experience can repair safely or should I
take it to a shop? Also, since it may have been an attempted
theft, would insurance cover that? Its a '99 legacy wagon,
outback edition

Answer
Hi Brittany,

I really cant answer the insurance thing, that is a question for your insurance company.  As far as a relative with car experience, that is kind of a question for them as well.  I have to assume the broken bolts are the wheel studs.   Do they(your family) know how to replace wheel studs?

Its not to difficult a job, I would call a good reputable shop near you and inquire about a price, and decide from there if its something you want to pay to have done or wait for a relative to take care of.

You cant use it until it is repaired.
