Subaru Repair: 1996 Subaru Outback...very sluggish, subaru outback, sluggish performance

Question
I have a 1996 Subaru Outback, manual transmission, 132,000 miles.  I just had
the waterpump & timing belt replaced and since then, it has been very sluggish.
If I am going up a hill, especially between 2nd and 3rd gear, there is little power
and I have to downshift.  There is no leaking of fluids or anything else out of the
ordinary.  Is it the battery?  Plugs & wires?  Please Help!  Thanks.

Answer
As far as the sluggish performance, Since it was right after the timing belt I would suspect one of the camshafts is a tooth off of timing.Expecially if someone who doesn't really know Subaru all that well .As the 1st generation 2.5l can be challenging to set up the belt correctly.Hope that helps
