Subaru Repair: Rear Tail Lamp Not Working/Cig Lighter Not Working, reverse light switch, legacy outback

Question
Hi there.  I have a 2000 Legacy Outback Sedan and both of the rear tail lights don't turn on when the vehicle is put in reverse.  I replaced the bulbs, check the wiring around the socket and the fuses.  They are all fine.  Any suggestions?  Also my lighter socket doesn't work.  I checked the fuse and its fine.  Any suggestions?  Lighter socket has never been used and I just need it for my kid's dvd player.

Answer
Are you saying the reverse lights don't work? If that is the case you would also need to check the output from the inhibitor switch on a automatic car and the reverse light switch on a manual Trans car.As far as the cig lighter you would need to see if it has power to it.Out of curiosity are you checking the fuses with a test light? It can be easy to miss a bad fuse if you rely on the eyeball alone.
