Subaru Repair: Trans weirdness on 03 Outback, trans shop, engine control module

Question
Suddenly the AT light is flashing, along with check engine light. The tram "slips"
,if you can call it that,- it feels as if you have been rearended pretty hard.
This all came with no warning. Just started out of the blue. I will take it to a
Tranny shop, but hope you can give me an idea, so I don't seem stupid!

Answer
I would be really hesitant to take it to a Trans shop. The TCM(Trans control module)and the ECM (engine control module) are indicating that a sensor, solenoid, control module, harness etc is not functioning properly. The E4AT transmission in your Subaru would be better served if you took it to some one who Knows subaru it will save you money in the long run as well. The state of the repair industry has really shifted towards Trans shops being more of a transmission unit exchanger and much less of an actual repair facility. If you do take it to a Trans shop:when they call you with there findings, ask what codes are set ,why were the codes set,& what specific components being replaced actually address the codes set.
