Subaru Repair: Subaru Awd is it working?, subaru legacy wagon, subaru awd

Question
Have a 1998 Subaru Legacy Wagon with around 100,00 miles on it. Have had it since new. Has for some time been slipping on turns and wheels seem to spin. Doesn't want to go up on ramps like it used to which I use when I change the oil.
Could I have lost the awd feature? What ties the front and back wheels together to get then to work as one? How can I check this out and repair cost if possible if this is what is going on.

Thanks!

Answer
Hello Sue,

There what is called the MPT clutch in the tailshaft of the transmission. This is what drives the rear wheels. It is common for the MPT clutch to go bad. I would recommend having it checked. I hope this helps.
