FOLLOW UP QUESTION:

Thank you for the response.  I do have a follow up quesstion -

The door which is jammed is the rear door which holds the spare tire.  The window is in the driver's side door.  I would like to ask about the window again.  I took the door panel off to look at the track the window runs on.  I found the adjustment bracket but no matter which way I shifted the window and tightened it down, it always wants to roll up tilted towards the front of the car and jamming itself in the track.  I am not sure if am adjusting this correctly, any trick to it? Thanks again.

=========================================================================
I am grateful to have you available.  My son recently purchased his first car, a 1995 Suzuki Sidekick, JX convertible (private party transaction).  We have found two initial problems.  The first is that the rear door opened, but when we closed it we could not get it open again.  The hand latch seems to be stuck and will not move at all.

The second problem is that the driver's side window has come off of its track and will not roll up without needing three hands to keep it straight all the way up.

Is there an easy fix to either of these problems or would we be best to take it to a serviceman.  I know a bit about cars but not these particular problems.  We did check this out before we bought it but did not encounter the problem until we got home, as usual.  If you can help, I thank you.
Answer -
It's probable the door panel will have to be removed to deal with the door latch and/or handle.  Until it's apart, what's wrong is anybody's guess.
Taking the door panel off is also the first step in the solution to the window problem.  If you feel competent, go for it, otherwise time to see the mechanic.

Answer
There are basically two ways the window is guided.  the first lifts the window in the center, and tilt is controlled by having the window's movement limited by channels on the front and rear of the window.  the other method is to have a "scissors" type mechanism which holds the window in two places, thereby balancing the window.
Look at yours, decide which type, and determine why it's tilting.  Without being there, it's kind of hard to guess what and why.
