Towing Issues: towing a Dodge Dakota automatic transmission 2 wheel drive, winnebago rv, drive shaft

Question
I want to tow a 1993 Dodge Dakota automatic transmission two wheel drive pickup behind a 23' 1994 Winnebago RV.  Can I tow the truck facing forward with all four wheels on the pavement?

Answer
The best bet is to disconnect the drive shaft. It is relatively easy. Just leave the drive shaft in the transmission and tie it up under the vehicle with a couple of good bungee cords. There are forums and web sites that state you can tow by disconnecting the battery. You may need to check with a dealer to make sure the transmission will get adequate lubrication while being towed. If so then you can leave the drive shaft in. These things vary from year to year.
