Towing Issues: Crumy Krispy Kreme, doughnut shop, krispy kreme

Question
I parked in the krispy Kreme parking lot that said for customers only. I ate breakfast at the doughnut shop and then into the mall. I came back an hour later and my truck with puppy inside had been towed. The sign said nothing about a time limit. Simply Customers only. I was a customer. Isn't it illegal to tow my car in this case? Is there a lawyer who can help me with this. Krispy Kreme is being less than helpful.

Answer
Well you mentioned that you "were a customer" at one point and then left the property to go to the mall... I take it that the mall is not attached to the Krispy Kreme parking lot.

You did not mention what City or State (you missed that requirement) you are in so I can not provide specific information on laws which would apply.

But just because you bought breakfast and then left the car there you became a "non customer" the minute you left the property...
True they say on the signs, "CUSTOMER ONLY PARKING" and if you were not there anymore and went elsewhere to buy some products or spend money elsewhere then you did technically trespass on Krispy Kreme property and they can have your vehicle towed.

Just an example, but image if the Krispy Kreme parking lot holds 25 cars and the people that work there have 5 cars, so there are 20 spaces left.  If the manager looks around at 10 am and there are 20 cars in the lot and only 1 person besides the employees then you can see how easy it is tell that parking is a problem

Hope this helps you out, but I also do not know where or who you can get as an attorney as I do not know where you are at.
