Towing Issues: towing issue, storage fees, tow company

Question
My car was towed in San Diego. Since I am not in San Diego, I just got the notice from towing company. It has been about two weeks so the fee is high now. Since the car is old and not worth the money, I called them and the towing company told me that another way what I can do is to give them the title, and pay them about $360 to waive their deficiency claim. Is it fair? Is transferring the title enough for them? They can sell car anyway.

Answer
Well most companies want the full owed bill not just a title for the services they provided...
Yes that seems strange, but if they are trying to work a deal with you then I would see about doing that... As a vehicle owner, you are responsible for any and all towing and storage fees...

Now you did not say if you live in California and that does mean a few things...  California has a law where if you owe money to a tow company for a tow, your license can be suspended..

But I would see what they will really accept, as they can also just say no and then turn it all over to a credit - collection agency and you know that goes and works.
Anything you can do would be a good idea, as it will not go away by its self.
