Towing Issues: Tow equipment to tow a F150 4x4 1997, tow dollies, tow equipment

Question
I am moving and wanted to know if I can tow my 97'F150 4x4 3dr after a UHAUL truck and what size truck would I need? What equipment would I need to haul the truck on, tow bar, dolly or trailer? UHAUL does not carry any equipment which can handle a truck like mine.

Answer
well in defense of U-Haul, they do own the equipment which you will be pulling the vehicle with... They have done extensive research in what can be "safely towed" with what vehicles...

Part of this is to get the most use out of their equipment and part of it is "liability issues".

Your pickup weighs in about 6200 pounds or so, and that is a lot of weight to be pulling with a truck which is also loaded and possibility close to its capacity...

Now tow dollies or trailers all add a bunch of weight to the equation...

Now I am not sure it can be done, but there are always people who will take and do it anyway... Just remember that it just not does involve your pickup, but your belongings, the rented truck,  AND YOUR LIFE and others lives, should something go wrong..

Even though its not really my area of expertise, but I would go with what U-Haul is saying.. Is there someone who can drive the pickup.

Hope this helps..
