Towing Issues: can they tow my car???, operational vehicles, side doors

Question
Hello and thank you for your time. I live in Wichita Kansas and I got into a car wreck about a week and ahlf to two weeks ago. I was "t-boned" on the driver side, damaging the driver side doors. The car still runs perfectly and I was able to drive it back to my spot in my apartment complex, so that I could figure out my first move. I have been getting quotes and getting estimated on if I should peice it or repair it. I received a notice on my car today, by the apartment complex saying that I have to fix the car immediatly or they will tow it. Is that legal? can they legally tow the car, even though it is in perfectly good working condition, I just choose not to drive it until i fix it. Just because it is unsightly doesn't justify them being able to tow it, does it??? I don't know what to do... but I am going to talk to them tomorrow to see what they say. If you have any advise, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Answer
Yes they can tow it, as most apartment complexes have provisions in the leases for operational vehicles... Yes your vehicle may be operative and while that would be a key point, you mentioned that it is wrecked...

That in its self does pose another problem or issue... Safety of tenant and guests.. The vehicle can have sharp edges and other things which can cause injury...

Plus do you really think that a wrecked vehicle sitting in the parking lot really helps the complex look livable and desirable to potential tenants.

Bur remember that it ultimately is the apartment complex property and they have the rights and privileges to have it towed if it violates their policies.
