QuestionMy car was towed from the apartment Complex where I Reside.
I had gone to the Office for parking permit but was told they were not towing cars currently, after the towing I went back and this time the story was that they had said they were not towing the vehicles for that week only. question why did I not get the sticker then?
I am so Upset I decided not to pay the charges and give up the car if they don't return it back as I feel I was given misleading Information with a purpose.
What will happen if I don't pay the Towing Company charges and does this affect my Credit. what Recourse do I have if Any?
AnswerWell it does sound strange that you were not given a permit when you were in there the first time.
But I really do not know all the answers to this issue and while you say you are going to leave the vehicle at the tow company yard that can result in it being sold at auction. Now depending on the tow company, the value of the vehicle and what the vehicle sells for at auction, you might find that the tow company does send the amount due to a collection agency....
And the amount due will be the difference in the towing and storage fees owed at the time of the sale, and the price the vehicle sold for.
Does it affect your credit, well it all depends on what the tow company does and what any laws regarding this practice allow...
Sorry but that is about the best answer I can provide, and I would suggest that you talk to the tow company and see what they are going to do or will accept to release you from responsibility.
