Towing Issues: Car towed frfom apt complex, guest space, apartment lease

Question
Frankfort, Ky

I have or had two cars.  My landlord out a sticker on my car saying it was going to be towed so I moved it to the guest parking. Then it was tow. the reason behind that was because my tire was flat. Now my other car has been towed on the basis that it was in the guest parking and I didn't come and get a visitor tag for it. I have been doing some research on tow laws and my apt doesn't have signs at the entrance or the exit.  Can I have them pay for both cars since the signs are not up?

Answer
Well Kentucky law  KRS 189.725 states that signs have to be posted...

But between, weather, Vandalism, or just plain ignorance of the laws can be reasons for the signs not being posted..

Now as to moving the vehicle to a guest space, it sounds like the manager knew it was your car and after you moved it to the guest space he still saw the fat tire, which in most apartment lease - rental agreements denotes "abandoned or neglected" vehicles...

As a rule it does apply, but it usually has to be a few days without attention before it gets towed.
But it also does sound like your complex requires all vehicles to have permits.

As to getting the complex to pay for the towing fees, it would be up to a judge to rule on that issue of illegal or improperly posted signage.
