Towing Issues: tow company charging 91 dollars lein fee -before 30 days, paperwork procedures, time fraud

Question
While attempting to "bail" my vehicle out of "jail" I noticed a 91 dollar lien fee. My vehicle has only been there since feb 12- how can they possibly charge for lien processing. Don,t I have 30 days to recover MY property in nevada?Or does their contract to tow for n.h.p. legalize fraud?

Answer
Well, first of all, the $ 91.00 lien fee you mention, most likely was added a few days after the vehicle was towed, because of "STATE REQUIRED PAPERWORK PROCEDURES" in order to start the lien...

BUT, some companies add it in right away to the bill, even though the laws say it begins after a certain period of time.

Fraud?  Well it depends on how you really look at things. After all why and what were the reasons for the tow, after all it you broke the law and got caught then you have "penalties" to pay... If it was involved in an accident and towed then your insurance company will be of help to you...

You might find some help and answers in the link below of many Nevada laws for towing of abandoned vehicles as they would have the lien law in there also. You would be able to answer more specific "what if or why" questions than I would be without several lengthy e-mail's back and forth.
