Towing Issues: Tenant moved out and left old truck in driveway, storage charges, storage fees

Question
The tenant moved out and signed a release for me to get rid of all items left in the driveway after 14 days if someone didn't come to pick them up.  Well, it's over 14 days and the old, dilapidated, non-op truck is still there...

What do I need to do to either get it towed or have it labeled as abandoned and charge storage fees.

I can't located the owner and tenant who moved out says she does not know where he is.

Answer
well, it would take a tow company to remove it from the property after you signed an authorization to impound the vehicle, as long as you are the property owner.

Now the vehicle owner would be responsible for towing and storage charges then as they would be notified by the tow company...
Now in some areas and with some tow companies when dealing with abandoned vehicles, they have created policies which the property owner pays a fee to have the vehicle removed (after all it is really trash) and if the vehicle owner redeems the vehicle, you would be refunded the fee..

As to you charging storage it would require you to keep the vehicle on the property as the lien process is done till the vehicle is sold..

I hope this helps, but do check with a lawyer about the lien laws of your state (you did not mention where you are) or do a Internet search on your state laws for abandoned vehicles.
