Towing Issues: proper way to tow a 2000 ford ranger, flat tow, rear wheels

Question
what is the most appropriate way to tow a 2000 ford ranger with 2-wheel drive?, and can draging the back tires damage the transmission in any way?

Answer
With a manual transmission, you can just put it in neutral and flat tow, or to be extra safe, remove the driveshaft.

If you tow with a dolly, you can tow with the rear wheels on the dolly, but you would have to tie down the steering wheel VERY secure.

But I feel the best way to tow a car is on a full flatbed trailer.   Much more secure and safe.
