Towing Issues: auto dolly requirements, tow dollies, zilch

Unit is 2002, manufacturer is out of business. Brakes were gone through, work fine, lights OK. The problem is registration in Florida. Talking to a dealer weeks ago he said no registration is required, but local police do not know anything about this. Going to CO. in nine days and am ready to lie about buying a new one to get copy of letter, citing statute, but would rather not. Web search of FL regs turn up zilch. Any other ideas?

Tow dollies need not be registered in Florida.  Other states vary but the likelihood of being pulled over is so remote, why draw attention to yourself with asking cops questions?  As long as the car on the dolly is registered and insured you should be fine in most states.
