Toyota Repair: 96 Toyota Tacoma, hard cold start

Question
I have a 96 Tacoma 2.4, which recently has become very difficult to start cold. If truck sits over night is  when problem is most. Truck runs fine once it starts and gets cleaned out. If truck Sits for 9 hours while I'm at work it will start fine though.  Truck has 219,000 miles. Suggestions?

Answer
Hello, Have you tried replacing the spark plugs? If the plugs are ok, then I would suspect that the fuel pump is not holding residual pressure, if the pressure drops to zero overnight then it can cause hard starting because the pressure takes longer to build up, the fuel injectors need about 40psi fuel pressure to work, so if possible connect a fuel pressure gauge and check the pressure while running then shut it off and check in the morning.
Running pressure should be about 45psi and residual pressure should not drop below 20psi.
