Toyota Repair: 89 toyota 4runner

My 89 toyota 4runner v6 4x4 will not rev up. When you mash the gas pedal it revs up then shuts off repetedly without completely shutting off....starts fine and idles fine...this started when i washed and degreased the engine.let it dry out for about two months and still no better.

Hello, remove the distributor cap and check for moisture inside, they are pretty well sealed and there may still be some moisture, check the cap and rotor for cracks or signs of electrical arcing. Check the spark plug wires for signs of arcing to ground.
