Towing Issues: Car towed at my apt, tow away zone, fire lane

I was parked behind my apt garage and got towed.  Do they have have the right to do this???? I am having to pay the tow comapany $275 for them to release my car.  If i pay for my garage should i have the right to park behind it and not get towed?

Behind the garage?  Do you mean in the grass behind the physical building or do you mean behind the garage door in the roadway - aisle or alley ?

If it is not in a "PARKING SPACE" then it is illegally parked and as such is subject to towing...

As a side note, most all the area around garages is considered a fire lane in most every city and state and as such is considered a tow away zone..
