Toyota Repair: 2001 Camry 4cyl, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
I have a 2001 Camry 4 cyl. with about 78000 miles on it.  Occasionally when driving I will notice that it isn't idling correctly, when stopped in traffic it wants to die.  When turning off the car it usually corrects the problem, or by the time I start the car again it runs fine.  The problem persists like this occasionally.  I have tried to clean the mass air flow sensor, it didn't seem to help.  The check engine light does not come on.  Thanks in advance.  Andy

Answer
A common problem is the idle air control valve (IAC) valve, most of the time it can be removed and cleaned with good results. Remove the throttlebody and then the IAC valve, clean both the throttle body and the IAC valve with spray intake cleaner and a soft brush.
