Toyota Repair: SRS Airbag warning light remains lit, airbag warning light, motor vehicle inspection

Question
I have a 1994 Camry ,when changing the battery the SRS Airbag light came on. The owners manual states to bring into Toyota which I did. They stated that they needed to reset the warning light but when performed it remained on. They stated that it would be very labor intensive to search for the source of the problem. I gather there must have been no "warning codes" when hooked up. They said not to worry about it and it will not result in our motor vehicle inspection but it IS STILL LIT on the dash and I would prefer to see it resolved Or shut off. Any thoughts or is it too involved. Is it a safety concern ?

Answer
Normally when you change a battery in that vintage Camry
the light for the SRS does not stay on.
Did you try disconnecting the negative battery post for 5 minutes
to see if it would clear it?

There must be some other issue. There are sensors
all over the car for the air bags.
An expensive scanner (cheap ones won't have the
capability to analyze SRS issues) needs to be hooked up the the
ECM to locate the problem.
