Toyota Repair: 1998 Camry Difficult To Fill With Gas, gas pumps, filler tube

Question
For the last couple of months I find that when I go to fill my gas tank, the nozzle of the gas pump clicks off as if it thinks the tank is full.  Why do all the gas pumps think that my car is full of gas, when it isn't?

Answer
There may be a restriction in the filler tube, first try looking down the tube with a flashlight, it may be necessary to remove the filler tube to inspect the opening at the tank where the fuel enters, it's not unusual for some object to have fallen in there restricting the fuel flow into the tank. There is also a one way valve at the tank opening, it should be checked to see if it can open and to see if there are any foreign objects in there.
