Toyota Repair: Glove box removal, phillips screw, shock absorber

Question
I would like to change the air conditioner (in cabin) filter so the gove box needs to be removed but I can't figure out how. Any help much appreciated.

Answer
You didn't say what year model it is but in most cases there is what looks like a small shock absorber on the right side with the glove box open, some a phillips screw that has to be removed from it an some just pop off the plastic retainer, once it's of squeeze the sides of the glove box to let the retaining pins go past the opening, the glove box will drop down far enough to get the cabin air filter housing out. Some Avalon and Camrys are a little more difficult and the entire glove box assembly has to be removed.
