Toyota Repair: tundra transmissions, electronic fuel injection, clean air act

Question
I'm in california looking for a auto transmission for a 2000 /6cyl,3.4 liter ,rwd tundra, My truck is a federal motor, and what is the difference between a california trans and a federal trans ,and can the two be made compatible?                  thanks

Answer
In the earlier days, cars used to contain a special code in regard to which ones were sent to California due to strict emission standards in this state. Since the clean air act of 1990, most cars and trucks are built to the same standards (All cars come with Electronic Fuel Injection) as a federal requirement from all vehicle manufacturers. In addition, if a late model engine is labeled as a "California engine", all that means to me is that they have additional and more frequent service recommendations due to collective global warming.
