Toyota Repair: 95 Celica Strut Replacement / Timing Belt, celica gt, water pumps

Question
Just bought a 95 Celica GT convertible 144,000 miles. It seems to be in great shape and I want to keep it that way for a while. The shocks/struts look to be original. Should I think about replacing them at this point? Is it a job a local garage could do? Also, I think I should replace the timing belt and water pump since I don't know the car's history. Is there any risk in using belts and water pumps that my local garage would order as opposed to trying to get Toyota parts? Thanks so much for the great job you do!!

Answer
Aftermarket struts/shocks are ok to use, I would recommend using the factory parts for the t-belt/water pump etc. Some local garages are good some not, so I don't know how to answer, just like some toyota dealers provide better service than others but the chances of getting the repairs done correctly are much better at the toyota dealer.
