Toyota Repair: 1989 toyota engine 2.0 efi, crank pulley, toyota engine

i just bought a used engine minus the distributor. it does have the crank pulley. how is the easiest way to set it at t.d.c.

Remove the #1 spark plug, rotate the engine until the mark on the pulley is lined up with the zero mark on the timing belt housing, look inside the spark plug hole with a flashlight, if the piston is all the way up the engine is at TDC, if the piston is down rotate it again until the piston comes all the way up and the pulley is at the zero mark.
