Toyota Repair: 87 TOYOTA POWER ISSUE, electrical drain, battery cables

Question
hello, i recently aquired an 87 toyota pickup when i went to get it
it had a dead battery so i jumped it ran like a champ all the way to
my house( about 30 miles away). the next time i went to start it the
battery was dead again, i thought that was weird becuase the long
drive should have charged it. so i jumped it and it ran like a champ
again. so i figured get a new battery, cables ect. after i installed
it all it just acted like the battery was dead again, considering it
sat a few deys i thought well maybe something was left on and that
drained the new battery, so i jump it yet again started right up.
this time i decided to pull the + lead from the battery, still ran
like a champ headlights on and everything didnt skip a beat. so then
i figured the alternator must be good. next test i took a battery
that i knew worked very well from my other truck stuck it in there
and nothin just ticktickticktick really fast, it wouldent even turn it over so im stumped. lastly i
grabbed the cables yet again and hooked
them from another vehicle that wasnt even running and connected it
straight to the toyota'lead wires without a battery and she fired
right up usually i can troubleshoot my way through these kind of
power situations but in this case i am stumped. i heard i might have a bad ground or something but its grounded to the motor block and the frame, i cant think of anything else to do! any help would be greatly appreciated thank you. matt

Answer
It's not getting enough power.

Check all the main cables:
Alt to positive terminal
Negative to chassie ground
Engine to chassie ground

Go actually have the alt output tested, like at a car parts store, they do that for free.

The alt is either nto charging the new battery, or there is an electrical drain on the battery that shouldn't be there! (Assuming it wasn't some random crazy battery didn't work.)
