Toyota Repair: 1987 Toyota 4 Runner SR5 Turbo, head gasket, chain assembly

Question
I just blew the head gasket/cracked head. I replaced the gaskets, and the head. We got it started, but when we put it in gear, it died. We then discovered the timing chain guides were broken off. So the chain assembly was replaced. Now the truck has a hard time shifting beyond 4th gear, especially when it's cold. But coming up a long hill it would rev up to 4K rpms and would not shift any higher. The truck has 210K miles on it, but I was not having ANY problems with it before I blew the head. The engine itself sounds great. Theories consist of tranny, or the turbo. Any thoughts?

Answer
how long have you run it?
Check all your Vaccuum lines and look for something simple.
Check the ignition timing.
Check the cam timing again also.
I doubt its the tranny or the turbo if they worked fine before.

Unfortunatly youve got a must see, hands on, kinda diagnostic job.
Im not much help from here.
