Toyota Repair: VALVE ADJUSTMENT, toyota technician, valve adjustment

Question
I HAVE AN 88 CELICA 3SFE ENGINE AND I HAVE HORRIBLE VALVE CLATTER IS THIS VALVE ADJUSTMENT SOMETHING THE AVE WEEKENDER COULD HANDLE AND WHAT DO I ASK FOR WHEN O CALL TO BUT THE SHIMS ...IS THERE LIKE A KIT OR SOMTHING

Answer
Adjusting the valves on this engine is somewhat difficult and requires special tools, the shims are available seperately and you have to know how to measure and know what shim has to be used to make the clearance correct, this can be very time consuming and for the most part trial and error, not something I would recommend to try yourself or anyone that is not a toyota technician or has the knowledge to do this.
I'm not so sure that the valves are the noise, have you had anyone look at the car and listen to the noise, these valves normally don't go out of adjustment unless there is some other problem, I would recommend having someone diagnose the noise and make a recommendation, I just don't think this is a simple valve adjustment issue.
