Toyota Repair: Camry Purchase, proper upkeep, chronic failures

Question
Hi Ted, I am in the market for a used car. I haver found a 2000 Camry Le with 66,000 miles. The owners have all repair receipts and oil change records for this car. The asking price is about $8,500.00. How many miles can I expect from the 4 cyl engine with proper upkeep? What is the track record for this type of car?

Thanks
John

Answer
You can easily expect to get 200k miles or more with proper maintenance, the timing belt should have been replaced at 60k miles, if not this is the first thing you should have done as soon as possible, this engine has no chronic failures or problems if it was maintained and the oil kept clean.
