Tractor Repair: case tractor, clutch pack, shift linkage

i was wondering what would cause a case 2090 it wont go into high or low range it isnt a powershift the man that has it says reverse works like it should.i can buy the tractor right. he also has a 2390 power shift that 1 and 2 wont work but the rest of them do what would cause that i can buy ether one if u can help. thanks

  On the one that isn't a powershift, there could be a few different things.  Broken or bent shift linkage, shift fork, or shift rail.   On the powershift one, C1 clutch pack is not working if speeds 1 and 2 don't work.  Could be a stuck pilot spool, but most likely the C1 clutch needs to be replaced.
