Tractor Repair: International 574 - Power steering & brakes, international 574, air bubbles

Question
Hi, My tractor burst a auxiliary hydraulic pipe the other day and I lost all the hydraulic/transmission oil, after doing the repair and re-filling the oil, the brakes and power steering are not working while the rear hydraulics and front end loader are okay. I have tried to bleed the power steering by loosening the connections near the front ram and while getting a good flow of oil did not get it working. I've also tried to bleed the 2 slave cylinders for the brakes by loosening the connections as I could not find any bleed nipples. Thanks in advance Gilbert

Answer
Hello,

There are bleed nipples on top of each rear axle housing near where the axle housings attach to the rear frame.  Attach a piece of clear plastic hose to each bleeder and rout them into the oil fill hole on the rear of the tractor.  Open the bleeders, start the tractor and slowly push each brake pedal several times, then push them both at the same time a few times, then hold one pedal down and pump the other a few times.  Keep bleeding until no air bubbles are seen in the hoses.  If you have a good oil flow to the steering cylinder, then there is probably not enough pressure to make the steering work.  There is a steering relief valve and steering priority valve in the multiple control valve located in front of the left rear axle.  You can see a breakdown of the multiple control valve at caseih.com, and click on parts and services, then select online parts catalog.  Enter your model in the search box, then click search and select your model from the results, and go to the hydraulic section.  You will be able to see all the parts and the part numbers.
