Question
i recently replaced a head gasket on the 706 i  did a oil change in the fall and
noticed the oil was a silver color. i changed oil and the filter but a fter running it
for a minute the oil turned silver again. sould i change it again with a heavier oil?
there no water in it and it still has the same thickness as oil .thanks

Answer
Hello,

If it has a grayish milky appearance, it is moisture mixed with the oil and could be from oil that was still trapped in the passages of the engine when the oil was changed.  The bad head gasket could have leaked some coolant into the oil which caused it, and changing the oil once didn't get it all out, since some oil always stays in the engine when you change it.  Changing the oil a few times should get it out if that is what it is from.  Whether the oil is heavier or not will not make any difference.  If it actually has a silver appearance like metallic silver paint, it is from some type of mechanical failure, in which case you would probably hear unusual noises or have low oil pressure.

                   Good luck,
