Tractor Repair: Craftsman DL2000 22HP lawn tractor, hydrostatic transmission, lawn and garden equipment

Question
When the tractor was parked, I pulled a lever out in back of the mower to move it without the engine running.  Next time I went to drive the mower, it would not go into gear.  (It has an automatic hydrostatic transmission.)  When I depress the gas pedal, it chatters but it doesn't move.  What should I do?

  I do not answer questions on lawn and garden equipment as stated in my profile.  If this problem just started after you pulled a lever, it has to be related to that.  Something probably did not go back to the original position after putting the lever back where it was.  Try pushing the machine ahead slightly while pushing the lever back.
