Triumph Repair: 1974 Triumph TR6, floor pans, triumph tr6

Question
1974 tr6 rusted out floor pans frame looks good how hard of a job is it to replace the floor pans any welding involved or bolted on

thanks

Answer
Ralph,

The floor pans originally were welded in as part of the bodyshell.

As to repair?  Are the pans totally shot or just several large holes?   And how long do you intend to keep the car?

If you're looking for a quick fix then it is possible to clean up what remains of the original pans then pop-rivet the new pans on top of the old ones.

If you want to do the job properly then it'd be better to either tack weld or braze in the new floor pans.

Cheers,

Jim
